Saving Venice Art 2025
What was the inspiration behind this look?
This gown was designed for the “Saving Venice” charity ball in New York City, and the goal was to create something truly showstopping. Green was a trending color in 2024, so we embraced it with a refined touch. To create a noble and elegant quality, we selected a lightweight, high-quality silk that drapes beautifully. The silk was used as a quiet detail—it’s not obvious from the front, but as she walks, it peeks through on the sides, adding depth and movement to the design.
Can you talk about the silhouette and structure of the gown?
We chose a sweetheart neckline and high-waisted silhouette to highlight the customer’s shape. While one-shoulder gowns are currently in style, the client preferred to keep her shoulders covered. So, we created an asymmetrical design—one shoulder is connected to the skirt, and the other flows into a sleeve that becomes the train. It gave the dress a modern yet modest elegance. She received countless compliments at the event and was even considered by many to be the best-dressed guest of the night.
How did the mask complement the gown?
The mask was made from the same silk as the dress to keep everything cohesive. Since the customer has a delicate, sweet face, we designed a dainty shape that wouldn’t overwhelm her features. Feathers were added to the top to echo the lightweight, airy quality of the silk. The entire piece—gown and mask—was handcrafted with silk, lace, and intricate beading, a process that took about six months from concept to completion.
