Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
When should I start looking for my wedding dress?
We recommend that brides begin their wedding dress search at least 8 months before the big day to allow time for delivery and alterations.
If your wedding is sooner—don’t worry! We have a wide selection of beautiful gowns, in various sizes, available for immediate purchase off the rack or from our storage. Additionally, we offer rush alterations to ensure your dress is ready in time.
Are alteration costs included in the cost of the dress?
Alteration costs are always separate from the price of the dress, unless the gown is haute couture—custom-made to your exact measurements.
Jacqueline’s Bridal Specific Questions
What dress sizes do you carry in store?
We have both wedding and evening dresses from Petite-size 00 to Plus-size 26.
What sets you apart from other bridal boutiques?
What sets us apart is our European heritage and our experienced consultants, which bring a unique approach to formal dress shopping.
We prioritize quality and offer one-on-one appointments to ensure an exceptional, personalized consultation experience. Our consultants are experienced in working with a range of body types, ensuring you get the most flattering style for your body. To ensure a perfect fit, our customers also get underwear consultation during their appointment.
With over 7,000sqft of space, we carry various styles, most of which are available in different sizes, so customers can try on dresses in their actual size. This ensures you see exactly how the dress will look when purchased in your size. Furthermore, for the bride who doesn’t want to wait, she can take the dress from our storage home the day of her purchase.
What does it mean when a dress is off-the-rack? Is it the same as a sample dress?
At our boutique, an “off-the-rack” dress refers to a brand-new gown that is available for immediate purchase. We carry dresses in a wide range of sizes, from 0 to 26, and most of our gowns are only tried on once or twice. All of our off-the-rack dresses are in pristine condition. This is what differentiates our off-the-rack dresses from sample dresses. Any damaged or dirty dress gets donated.
Can we touch the dresses that are hanging in the store?
To preserve the quality and condition of our gowns, only our staff members are permitted to handle them. During your appointment, a consultant will be by your side at all times—ready to assist if a particular dress catches your eye. Otherwise, your consultant will carefully select and present gowns based on the preferences you share at the start of your appointment, allowing you to sit back and enjoy.
Is it possible to view the dresses without scheduling a consultation appointment?
We’re a by-appointment-only boutique, and as such, dresses cannot be viewed without a scheduled consultation. Any viewing requires the assistance of a consultant, which is included as part of the appointment.
We also reserve the entire store for each customer during her appointment to ensure a private and personalized experience. Allowing walk-ins would disrupt this atmosphere and compromise the quality of service we provide.
After purchasing, can I store my dress in store?
Yes, we have a locked, secure room specially designated for storing customer dresses.
Do you have dresses for grandmothers?
Yes, we have a selection of evening dresses specifically chosen for grandmothers. These dresses come in a variety of sizes and colors.
Do you carry accessories matching to the dresses?
Yes, we have an extensive selection of accessories such as handbags, shawls, jackets, jewelry, gloves, belts, capes, overskirts, tiaras, veils, and garters.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our boutique and bathroom are both entirely wheelchair accessible.
Do you have parking available?
While we don’t have our own parking lot, parking is generally available in front and around the store. On the off-chance that all spots are filled, the Wellesley library offers a big parking lot a 2 minute walk from our store.
Questions about your appointment
How long do the appointments last?
The length of an appointment varies. A Bridal appointment usually lasts up to 2 hours. This ensures a relaxed, stress-free environment for the bride to make her decisions. All appointments are one-on-one, meaning you will have the store to yourself during your appointment, providing privacy and quiet.
Can I bring friends and family to my appointment?
Of course! We generally recommend a maximum of 3 guests. Many brides find that having too many opinions can result in confusion. You can find more detailed guest limits on our “Schedule an Appointment Page“.
If you wish to bring more people, we kindly ask that you inform us so we can confirm the guest number.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Please bring along any inspiration photos or reference materials you’ve found to share with your consultant at the start of your appointment. As you’ll be trying on dresses, we kindly ask that you wear appropriate underpants—failure to do so may result in the appointment being rescheduled or cancelled. You can find more information on our Consultation, Alteration, and Couture pages.
Can I take photos of the dresses during my appointment?
As to the request of our designers, we kindly ask that no photos be taken of the dresses during your appointment. Once you say ‘yes’ to the dress, you’re more than welcome to take as many photos as you’d like—and we’re happy to help capture the moment for you!
Can I bring food or drinks into the store?
We only allow for water to ensure both the store and the dresses remain clean.
