Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

When should I start looking for my wedding dress?

We recommend beginning your dress search 8–12 months before the wedding. This allows time for ordering, tailoring, and fittings.
If your wedding is soon, please don’t worry. We carry a wide selection of gowns in various sizes available for immediate purchase, and we also offer rush alterations when needed.

Are alteration costs included in the cost of the dress?

Alterations are separate from the price of the dress unless you are ordering a haute couture gown, custom-made to your exact measurements.

Jacqueline’s Bridal Specific Questions

What dress sizes do you carry in store?

We offer an extensive collection of wedding and evening gowns in sizes 00 to 26, including petite and plus-size options.

What sets Jacqueline’s Bridal apart?

Jacqueline’s Bridal stands apart through private, one-on-one service, European couture expertise, and an exceptionally inclusive selection from Petite 00 to Plus 26. Many gowns are available to try on in your actual size, and our in-house atelier provides custom couture, professional alterations, and complete styling from the first appointment to the final fitting.

What does it mean when a dress is off-the-rack? Is it the same as a sample dress?

Our off-the-rack gowns are brand-new dresses available for immediate purchase. Most have only been tried on once or twice and are in pristine condition.
Unlike many boutiques, we do not sell damaged or heavily worn samples — any dress that is not perfect is donated.

Can I touch or browse the dresses on my own?

To keep our gowns in pristine condition, only consultants handle the dresses. During your appointment, your consultant will guide you through selections and bring options that match your vision, ensuring a comfortable, enjoyable experience.

Can I come in just to view dresses without an appointment?

We are a by-appointment-only boutique to ensure a private, relaxed, and personalized environment for every bride.
A consultant is required for any gown viewing or trying-on.

Can I store my dress with you after purchasing it?

Yes. We offer storage in our secure, climate-controlled gown room.

Do you have dresses for grandmothers or mothers of the bride/groom?

Yes, we carry a curated collection of elegant evening gowns in a range of sizes and silhouettes.

Do you carry accessories to complete the look?

Yes. We offer veils, tiaras, belts, jewelry, handbags, capes, overskirts, shawls, gloves, and more.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes. Both our boutique and restroom are fully wheelchair accessible.

Is parking available?

Parking is usually available directly in front of or near the boutique. If full, the Wellesley Public Library parking lot is just a 2-minute walk away.

When should I start my alterations?

Alteration timelines vary by store. At Jacqueline’s Bridal, we recommend beginning the alteration process at least 12 weeks before the event to allow sufficient time for fittings and to avoid possible rush fees. Rush fees may apply when the remaining time is insufficient for the required work under our standard alteration schedule.

For the most comfortable experience, we recommend starting all height-related alterations as soon as possible, once you have determined your shoes.

Questions about your appointment

How long do the appointments last?

The length of an appointment varies. A Bridal appointment usually lasts up to 2 hours. This ensures a relaxed, stress-free shopping experience. All appointments are one-on-one. During this time, the boutique is reserved exclusively for you.

Can I bring guests with me?

Yes — we recommend up to 3 guests for the most peaceful and supportive experience.
If you would like to bring more people, please let us know in advance.

Can I take photos during my appointment?

Out of respect for our designers, photos are not permitted while trying on gowns.
Once you say “Yes” to your dress, we welcome and encourage photos and are happy to help capture the moment!

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Please bring any inspiration photos or style references you’d like to share — this helps your consultant understand your vision.

We also kindly ask that you:

  • Discuss your dress budget at home ahead of time and determine a price range that feels comfortable for you. This helps us pull gowns that truly align with your style and preference.

  • Wear appropriate undergarments suitable for trying on gowns.

  • Avoid strong or heavy makeup to help keep our dresses in pristine condition.

  • Bring a hair clip or hair tie so you can easily put your hair up while trying different necklines and veil looks.

If proper undergarments are not worn, the appointment may need to be rescheduled.

Can I bring food or drinks into the store?

Only water is permitted to protect the gowns and preserve the boutique environment.
